Family shoot in the Dutch polder..
One of the nice surprises of the past year… an encounter with this lovely family for a photo shoot on the occassion of the 50th birthday of the (grand)mother. As a location we chose the Nature park ‘Flevo Landschap’ in Lelystad as it was the most central location for every one. Beautiful nature on what once used to be the bottom of the sea. Autumn was already settling in, but we managed to get good light and some great colorful surroundings.
Happy family!
In spite of Corona worries, in spite of the bad weather, this was a happy occassion and a happy family! I was really pleased and honoured to be asked to take their photographs, on the occassion of the 80th birthday of the Mater Familias. It resulted in a beautiful photobook (‘coffee table book’) that can be passed around when visitors are over and kept as a tangible treasure in years to come.
Repeat shoot No….?
As a photographer it is always a great honour and pleasure being asked to photograph a family, whom I have photographed before. I love seeing how the kids have grown up, and the adults have aged… Only joking, of course, but it is so nice to meet up with the same family again and to take their photographs. It is nice to know that my work helps them recording a chapter of their lives. Here is one such story…. a long time ago, when I first started out as a photographer, I photographed this family on the beach of the black sea, close to my house:

They have been very supportive of me throughout my career and recently we met up again in Amsterdam. Different place, different time, but other than that, nothing much has changed. It was great to see each other again. Here is the result of that afternoon. The weather was wet and grey, but somehow, we managed!
And to complete the picture, here is the whole family:
Thank you all, I look forward to our next encounter! With love, Annemieke.
Family shoot in Groeneveld
This was my first family shoot after Corona turned our lives upside down… at the beautiful Groeneveld estate in the middle of the summer. It is just such a wonderful place… magnificent trees, ponds, hideaways etc. Because of the size of the trees, the light gets filtered beautifully. Being surrounded by nature slows you down and helps to restore peace of mind. This photoshoot was a long time coming and a real pleasure. Wilco, Gonca and Sira are my friends/neighbors/fellow earth travellers.. we were neighbors in Istanbul, and now again in Holland. Cok tesekkurler, cok sevgiler..
Family Repeat shoot…
Throughout the years I have photographed this family several times. Not so strange, considering they are my cousins, bonus cousins, girlfriends and of course my sweet daughter!
The intention for this shoot was to take the same photos’, in the same spot, on the same bench as years before. Time does not stand still however, everything changes, we are all getting older and benches do change location sometimes.
All the same, we had a lot of fun!
These photo’s have been taken at the Nautical quarters in Huizen, NL.
Beach shoot against all odds..
It was such a rainy, windy autumny day… we planned to take the photo’s on the beach, but the weather was just a bit too much. Fortunately, we found a good, sheltered spot behind some beach cabins. Rain or shine, the light is always beautiful on the beach. This was the third time this family and I got together for a family photo shoot. I love repeat shoots, as it is always nice to see how we all grow up (the kids) and age (me…) With love and thanks to all!
