Lucky opportunity! Photographing the GIC2024!
Time flies…… it has been almost three weeks since I came back from ‘the GIC’.
An acronym that meant very little to me beforehand, but that now says it all!
The GIC stands for Global Inspiration Conference. It is the biggest event of the International Breathwork Foundation, is open to professionals and every one who has an interest in breathwork and is held in a different country every year. This year, it was held at the Holthurnsche Estate in Nijmegen.
As the official photographer of the event, I had the opportunity to observe, photograph ànd participate, which meant that both my professional occupations came together and intertwined during one long, colorful, inspiring and intense week.
During the morning I would usually be present and take photographs and in the afternoon I participated in a workshop of my choice. There were many nice things to choose from and it was impossible to do it all, but I knew which ones I wanted to join, either because I was curious, or I thought it might be good for me. I have been a breathwork facilitator for many years now and have both given and received many sessions. Still I have seen and learned some very nice things during the GIC and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The conference started off with the ‘communal breath’ on the first day, which meant that we were doing a self-session altogether, all 220 one of us. An amazing experience.
Last but not least, I would like to express my gratitude to the Dutch organising committee for having me as their photographer and for looking after me so well. It was a real honor and pleasure!
